Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Laura Sullivan was born and brought up from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam the mother of Jazmine is an ex-backing singer with Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her the job of curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the historic mansion. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student and a top student in vocal music. Sullivan started singing in children's chorus as a contralto, later she joined the adult chorus a couple of years further on. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. She relates that she was in her 11th year when someone asked her to sing solos at church. However, she was not fully ready. "Then when McDonald's was hosting a contest for students in big cities, I got a chance to perform 'Accept What God Does' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". Stevie Wonder sang her part on his birthday, 13 years old. Sullivan had signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records at the age fifteen. The singer-songwriter produced an entire album, but the album was never released. Sullivan was later dismissed at the hands of the company. Missy Elliott was her producer on a couple of songs on her debut album. Among them "Backstabbers" was a viral track produced by Timbaland composed by Elliott.
